Ahhh…

30 10 2008

As you know..or don’t…I have been procrastinating on everything lately. Now that I have finished taking the ACT FOREVER, and finished my Oregon application, I realized that it felt like I was walking around with elephants on my shoulders. Right now I feel like I am caught up to a certain degree and life is good. Sweet. First of all I just wanted to post, becuase I had some free time.

#1. Make sure you vote on the 4th of November. It is a sacred right that you shouldn’t be blowing off, whether you care about politics or not. If you don’t then suck it up, read up, and vote…becuase if you won’t do it for yourself, you should be doing it for the 17 year old that has been paying taxes and doesn’t have a say in the way the country is run.

#2. Don’t adopt animals from animal mills or breeders. I know it sounds wrong…and then i would be taking someone out of a job, but the fact is that people who are breeding dogs should have a vetarinaian liscence and have other options…if they don’t shame on them for playing God with animals. If you are going to adopt an animal: do it from a shelter. They need you more than the dogs on a mill do.
Just thought I would let you know.

Things have been going well. This morning I got stranded (again) by my car and if it weren’t for unsecured networks in the neighborhood that I ended up in, I would have been stuck there all day. I was able to get on MSN and get a hold of my cousin so he could call the house. Talk about lucky! So I stayed home today and got my room all nice and clean…well I am not finished yet, but I am getting there. This Saturday we have the first congress tournament of the season. I am excited, but nervous becuase that only means that the first speech tournament is coming up and I am not near as ready as I should be. Just thought I would let you in on what’s up. Remember to vote…preferably for Obama!

That’s a Doosie

I haven’t posted in a while but give me a break…I have been busy. I just thought I would post about a lovely piece of propaganda that landed in our mailbox today. It was addressed to my mother, but appearantly the National Republican Congressional Committee is fairly adament about letting everyone know they are more retarded then they already appear. So I quote:

But, liberal Jim Esch opposes the Defense of Marriage Act. “I would vote against the Defense of Marriage Act” “I think the Defense of Marriage Act is just this whole decoy issue.

WHY? “A lot of my gay friends would say that they don’t want to get married, but they want to be able to.” Is liberal Jim Esch more concerned about his gay friends, or about doing what’s right for Nebraska families?

Seriously? I laughed at this for a few minutes just becuase the flyer makes it sound like Jim Esch is the only person in Nebraska with gay friends….and then it proceeds to make it sound like there are no families in Nebraska that are composed of gay couples. First of all, this was from the National Requblican Congressional Committe…so there is a small chance that the person who designed this poster was from Nebraska. Second of all, there are gay people in Nebraska…Omaha especially is becoming more progressive in it’s ideas about social change. But it gets better:

Jim Esch-too extreme and too liberal for us. NEBRASKA FAMILIES DESERVE BETTER.

Jim Esch is pro-life! I have talked with him personally about it. That is hardly extreme or liberal. And what qualifies us? becuase I am pretty sure that I would find the person who wrote this flyer to be a despicable person who has no problem with spreading ridiculous propaganda that cuts of his nose despite his face. Just thought I would share.

I have been pretty busy…as I have said. I am taking the ACT for the last time tomorrow. (keep your fingers crossed) and then I think I have a meeting for the December Junior Encounter on Sunday. Other good news: I made the all state band again this year. I wasn’t entirely certain about my audition when I left but appearantly it was good enough to get me in. I have to be practicing my music A LOT if I want to get first chair this year…which I intend on doing-there is a solo in one of the songs for bass clarinet-I WANT IT. haha. Speech is going well. I still have yet to get everything finished, but once things start to settle down I can manage the team a little better. I only have one more section of my application to finish for the University of Oregon (again, keep your fingers crossed) and I should know by Christmas where I will be attending school. I am pretty sure that I am going to go to Oregon…unless I get zero financial aid…but that’s the bottom line. haha. So I just thought that I would post. Maybe someday I will have the time to do it when I am not procrastinating. haha.

Peace.
